The Dan Martin Pool House at the Garden Hills Pool in Atlanta, Georgia has achieved EarthCraft Light Commercial certification. The Garden Hills Pool is a public facility owned by the City of Atlanta and leased to the Garden Hills Pool & Park Association, a 14-member neighborhood volunteer board. The pool house includes restrooms, changing facilities, meeting spaces and a concession stand.

During construction, the project team was able to divert 99.7 percent of all construction waste from landfills. Drywall and concrete with recycled content were used in construction and light colored paving was used in order to reduce the urban heat island effect. In order to ensure good indoor air quality, the building uses low VOC paints and carpeting. The installation of efficient water fixtures was especially important for this project given the function of the pool house. In order maximize energy efficiency, the mechanical system was positioned within the building envelope and spray foam insulation was used around the perimeter of the building envelope. A high efficiency HVAC system was installed along with occupancy sensors and energy efficient lighting and windows.
